Ferric Nitrate is a transparent brown hot patina for bronze, brass, and copper. In addition, Ferric Nitrate is often used to rust iron and steel.
Directions for use: Clean metal first as with any other patina. Heat metal to 180F-200F. If applied full strength it will make a dark brown. If diluted 50% with distilled water, it will make a gold color. On real metal only: if you rinse it with warm water it will make rust-brown. Do not rinse the metal coatings. If used on iron or steel it will make a rust brown (real rust).
if applying cold to iron or steel, it will react very slowly, but will create a beautiful and stable orange rust. Do not use on Aluminum.
Ferric Nitrate Traditional Patina comes in a handy 32 oz. spray bottle.
